About Nanaimo Food Hub
The Nanaimo Food Hub was born from a simple yet powerful idea: to create a vibrant, community-centred space that connects local farmers, food producers, and residents through fresh, sustainably grown food.
Our journey started with listening—listening to the challenges faced by small and mid-sized farmers, the concerns of food producers trying to reach markets, and the voices of residents seeking healthier, locally sourced options. We recognized a common need: infrastructure that could support aggregation, storage, distribution, and digital access to local products year-round.
In response, we formed the Nanaimo Food Hub: a space where food, community, and innovation meet. Today, the Hub supports local farmers and producers, provides new ways to market and sell their goods, and fosters partnerships that promote food security, economic growth, and regenerative agriculture. Together, we are building a resilient food future for Nanaimo—one that’s rooted in community and grown with care.
